▍Operation & Maintenance- Liya 25FT Fiberglass Fishing Boat
Safety Operation Guide
To ensure safety for every voyage, please adhere to the following procedures.
Pre-Departure Preparation
Boat Readiness Check: Inspect the hull, particularly the fiberglass sections, for any visible cracks, damage, or excessive wear. Ensure the engine (recommended 115 HP outboard), steering system, and all equipment are functioning correctly.
Weather and Planning: Obtain the latest weather forecast and sea condition reports. Always file a float plan and inform someone ashore of your itinerary.
Safety Equipment: Ensure one properly fitting and serviceable Personal Flotation Device (PFD or life jacket) is available for every person on board. Check that the fire extinguisher, signaling devices, navigation lights, and bilge pump are present and in working order. Never use life jackets as seat cushions.
Fuel and Load Management: Ensure an adequate fuel supply, carrying an extra one-thirdas reserve. Strictly adhere to the maximum 10-person capacity. Distribute all passengers and gear weight evenly to maintain vessel stability.
Operational Practices Underway
Safe Navigation: Always maintain a safe speed, particularly in crowded areas or adverse conditions. Avoid sharp, high-speed turns.
Passenger Safety: Instruct all passengers to remain seated in designated areas while the boat is underway and not to sit on the gunwales. When moving is necessary, maintain a low center of gravity and hold onto secure handrails.
Sober Operation: Never operate the boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs that impair judgment.
Emergency Procedures
Man Overboard: Immediately throw a lifebuoy or flotation device toward the person and shout "Man Overboard" to alert others. Approach the person slowly from downwind, and shift the engine to neutral or turn it off before making contact.
Engine Failure: Attempt to troubleshoot simple causes (e.g., check the kill switch lanyard connection). If the issue cannot be resolved, deploy the anchor to secure the vessel's position, then use your VHF radio or other signaling devices to call for assistance.
Taking on Water: Identify the source of water ingress immediately. If the hull is breached, attempt a temporary seal with waterproof materials and use manual or automatic pumps vigorously.
Maintenance and Care Schedule
Regular, professional maintenance is crucial for the longevity of the fiberglass hull and the reliability of the engine.
After Each Use
Thorough Cleaning: Rinse the entire boat with fresh water to remove salt, dirt, and fishing residue, paying special attention to the engine and deck areas.
Engine Flushing: If used in saltwater, flush the engine's cooling system with fresh water according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Inspection and Drying: Check the hull for any new damage. Open hatches to storage compartments and the livewell (if equipped), wipe down the deck, and allow the interior to ventilate and dry completely.
Periodic Maintenance (Based on usage frequency)
Seasonally or Every 50 Operating Hours: Inspect the battery and its terminals for corrosion. Check the condition of all lines, ropes, and cables.
Every 100 Hours or Annually: Replace engine spark plugs and gear case oil. Inspect and replace the fuel filter as needed.
Annually or Every 300 Operating Hours: Perform a comprehensive professional engine service. Inspect the propeller for damage, dings, or fishing line entanglement.
Long-Term Storage
After a complete cleaning and application of a protective wax, store the boat in a cool, dry place.
Winterize the engine following the manufacturer's procedures (e.g., adding fuel stabilizer, fogging the cylinders).
Remove the battery and keep it on a maintenance charger.
Drain all water from the livewell, freshwater tank, and fuel system (or add an appropriate stabilizer).
Special Considerations for Fishing and Leisure Use
Given its multi-purpose design, please note these additional tips for fishing or leisure activities:
Gear Management: Utilize the customizable rod holders effectively. Ensure all fishing rods and tackle are stowed securely when not in use to prevent clutter and tripping hazards on deck.
Activity Awareness: Although the layout is spacious, always communicate with others on board when moving, casting, or reeling in to avoid hook injuries or collisions.
Livewell Maintenance: If a livewell is installed, clean it thoroughly after each use to prevent algae growth, bacteria, and unpleasant odors.
